Doug Straley is the proud superintendent of Louisa County Public Schools and is now in his ninth year in the leadership role.
A lifelong native of Louisa County, Mr. Straley has served in a multitude of roles in his 30 years at LCPS. During his time as superintendent, Mr. Straley has created a concept called #TeamLCPS, where all students, staff, and community members play an integral role in the school division’s success. In recent years, Louisa County Public Schools has been recognized by the Virginia Department of Education for its overall innovation and implementation of The 5 C’s.
In 2018, Mr. Straley received the “Most Spirited Superintendent Award” by the nationally recognized company Varsity Brands, and in both 2020 and 2023, Mr. Straley was named the Region V Superintendent of the Year. In 2024, Mr. Straley was named the Virginia Superintendent of the Year.
Mr. Straley lives in Louisa with his wife, Kate, who teaches at Louisa County Middle School. He has six children, all of whom have attended — or are currently attending — Louisa County Public Schools.
