Louisa County Public Schools collaborates with Region 10 Community Services Board to have specialized Region 10 mental health staff available on our school campuses full-time in order to support students with mental health concerns.
Crisis Counselors support school counselors in assessing safety and risk in students. They act as a liaison for students in crisis with families and outside agencies including law enforcement and medical professionals. Crisis Counselors create treatment and/or safety plans with students and provide short-term crisis counseling as needed.
Mental Health Counselors deliver prevention services on a referral basis for students who are at-risk. When needed, they consult with crisis counselors for risk assessments. They also coordinate with parents and families to seek out community resources for ongoing positive behavior and mental health.
