Greetings TeamLCPS Families!

First, I want to say thank you for the unwavering GRIT you have demonstrated throughout this school year. Each day, I have been inspired as I’ve watched our students and staff at Louisa County Public Schools work together to create a world-class educational experience. I am truly appreciative to all of you for your hard work and dedication to the cause, which is ensuring that Louisa County leads the way! Thank you!

I’m writing to you today to provide you with an update concerning our school division’s Make-Up Day Schedule. As you know, our school division has missed instructional time at various points thus far this school year due to severe winter weather. This is where our Make-up Day Schedule, which was installed prior to the school year, plays an integral role in our success. At TeamLCPS, we are dedicated to your child’s education and committed to providing them with the proper amount of quality instructional time they deserve, regardless of the challenges the weather may present us with!

As of today, we have missed six instructional days. This time has been made up using bank time, as well as by our decision to convert January 12th from an Asynchronous Learning Day to a regular school day. Please view the information below for a summary of our Make-Up Day Schedule as we move forward.

Make-Up Day Schedule:

  • Day 7: February 21 would become a regular school day.
  • Day 8-10: Made up using bank time.
  • Day 11: March 9 would become a regular school day.
  • Day 12: March 14 would become a regular school day.
  • Day 13-15: Remote Learning Day for students.

NOTE: During Remote Learning Days, all students continue to work on asynchronous assignments. Asynchronous instruction does not involve live ZOOM or Google Meet sessions.

Though we are hoping for as few disruptions to instructional time as possible due to weather as we move forward, it is important to note that further revisions to our calendar may occur if the make-up days listed above are exceeded. If that were to occur, we would communicate an updated plan to you at that time. Additionally, as part of our efforts to keep you as informed as possible, we are posting a copy of our remaining Make-Up Day Schedule to our division website, lcps.k12.va.us. This schedule will continue to be updated in real-time if/when closings are to occur.

TeamLCPS, thank you for your cooperation, and for being ONE TEAM, committed to a high standard of academic excellence! Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

We are TeamLCPS!
