Meet the Jungle Turf Crew!

Each week, Louisa County High School’s Turf Management class (also known as the Jungle Turf Crew) is in charge of getting the school’s athletic fields ready for play!

Every Monday, the team begins to prepare the Mark L. Fischer Field for that week’s football game and other athletic events. Jungle Turf Crew members rotate shifts throughout the entire week to make sure the field is ready to go.

During an average week with a home football game on Friday night, the Jungle Turf Crew uses about 125 gallons of paint.

Over the years, the Jungle Turf Crew has perfected dozens of different designs, all of which are originally created by students.

The Jungle Turf Crew has received numerous accolades for their work over the years. In April 2023, the team received the Field of Excellence Award from Pioneer Athletics. In 2018, the Jungle Turf Crew won the nationally-recognized Turf Fitness Award from Syngenta.
