At #TeamLCPS, kindness MATTERS. And once again, the school division is putting that theme into action.

On October 4th, LCPS Superintendent Doug Straley officially announced the "Kindness to the Carolinas" initiative. Through the initiative, LCPS will be raising funds and collecting supplies for six schools in the Carolinas heavily damaged by Hurricane Florence in September.

Each school has adopted one school to assist:

Jouett Elementary will be assisting Trenton Elementary in NC
Moss-Nuckols Elementary will be assisting Socastee Elementary in SC
Thomas Jefferson Elementary will be assisting JT Barber Elementary in NC
Trevilians Elementary will be assisting South Topsail Elementary in NC
Louisa County Middle will be assisting Shallotte Middle School in NC
Louisa County High will be assisting Lumberton High in NC

"Often, it seems like the world is growing more divided by the day. At #TeamLCPS, we WILL NOT let this happen in our community," Straley said. "Let’s show the world that we are good citizens and we will always help out our neighbors in time of need. And TOGETHER, we will CHANGE the world."

In early November, LCPS administrators will take the funds and supplies and deliver them to the six schools. Last year, LCPS raised more than $25,000 for schools damaged by Hurricane Harvey.
