Music Therapy

Moss-Nuckols Elementary School has debuted it’s very own Music Therapy class!

The program is for students will autism and developmental disabilities. T
hrough music, reading, singing and movement, the program helps promote wellness, positive attitudes and good behavior! It also helps students learn how to handle sensory inputs whether inside or outside of the classroom.

Daneyelle Elder with Healing Sounds Music Therapy in Richmond has worked with MNES students since the program’s beginning in August.

"It makes me feel great. I love the fact that music has so many qualities about it and is conducive for learning," Elder said. "It’s conducive for memory and impulse control and all the things children are working on at this age. They’re able to take that outside of the music and apply that to life, every single day."

"We just started this year, and they really do love it!" LCPS Director of Pupil Personnel Services Carla Alpern added.

Elder works with Moss-Nuckols Elementary School teachers to help students with developmental disabilities reach new academic objectives!
